A new survey by Deloitte finds nearly 50 percent of physicians report being unaware of MACRA, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act.
While this isn’t shocking news, it does mean these doctors are going to miss out financially if they, or their medical billing infrastructure, doesn’t have a handle on MACRA and MIPS (Merit-Based Incentive Payment System).
Fortunately, it’s not too late to get on-board. Modern Healthcare does a nice job of explaining MACRA and MIPS. As it notes, MACRA goes into effect on January 1, 2017.
You might be like most of our clients who’d rather not worry about this new reimbursement system. We don’t blame you. It’s dense, difficult stuff.
“Meaningful use is first-grade arithmetic and MIPS and MACRA are college-level calculus. It’s very, very complex,” Dan Golder, a principal at Impact Advisors, a healthcare IT consultancy in Naperville, Ill. told Modern Healthcare, referring to MIPS.
It’s our job to stay on top of these Medicare rule changes and ensure our clients remain successful and fully paid. We actually like challenges like this, because we love making sure our clients get what the reimbursement they deserve. Contact us today if we can help you sort through MACRA and MIPS.
