The last word we’d usually use to describe the holiday season is “restful”; many of us are rushing around to buy last-minute gifts, making travel plans, and trying to get everything wrapped up at work before 2018 hits.
Let’s change that.
The work you do every day is critical. From your technical knowledge that helps solve medical challenges to the kind smile you give a struggling patient, your skills and talents are making the world a better, healthier place. But you can’t provide the absolute best care for your patients unless you take care of yourself first.
This holiday season, resolve to give your greatest assets – your body and your mind – some rest. Whether it’s reading a book that has nothing to do with the practice of medicine or spending time with loved ones, allow yourself some time to rest and regenerate so that you can return to your practice in 2018 refreshed and ready.
Let’s face it, this year has been challenging. With proposed healthcare reform after healthcare reform, private equity buy-ups left and right, and a host of reimbursement issues, especially here in Colorado, we’re glad that 2017 is almost over. You probably are too. But 2018 doesn’t promise to be any less challenging. The best defense is a good offense, which means taking care of yourself so you can handle whatever might come your way in the upcoming year.
With that, best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Restful New Year from our team at Clinic Service.
